Six tools currently ship a dedicated ghost mannequin feature for apparel listings: Photta, Photoroom, Pixelcut, Snappyit, Fotor and PixFocal. They differ less in whether they can produce the invisible-mannequin look and more in what they let you feed in, what they let you control, how the output is priced, and where the feature sits in your workflow. This page compares those things, each one read from the vendor's own product, help, API or pricing pages and dated so you can re-check it.
It is not a quality ranking. We did not run identical garments through every platform, so there is no realism score here and no claim that one tool renders fabric better than another. What follows is what each vendor documents.
Quick answer: which one fits which situation
| If this is your situation | Start with | Why (verified feature fit) |
|---|---|---|
| You shoot front and back of each garment and want the collar and interior rebuilt from both | Photta | Accepts an optional back_image; the API notes both images together give the best interior reconstruction |
| You already run Shopify and want ghost mannequin inside an existing batch routine | Photoroom | Available standalone, in Batch, and in Photoroom for Shopify |
| You want angle, background and 4K export controlled in one studio format | Pixelcut | Ghost Mannequin format with placement, aspect ratio, angle, background and export up to 4K |
| You want a stated monthly credit count at a low entry price | Snappyit | Plans list credits per month explicitly, starting at 120 credits |
| You want front, back and side views generated from a single upload | Fotor | Multi-angle generation is the documented feature of its ghost mannequin tool |
| You want ghost mannequin plus on-model, flat-lay and hanger shots from one upload | PixFocal | All four output types from a single garment photo |

The six tools
Photta
Ghost mannequin runs from a flat lay or a mannequin shot. The part worth knowing is the optional second image: Photta's API accepts a back_image alongside the front, and its own documentation states that for the 3d style, "providing both product_image and back_image produces the best interior reconstruction" (API documentation). If your shoot already captures both sides, that is a real difference from tools that take one photo.
Output is either 3d — the invisible-mannequin look with body volume — or flat_lay, which removes the mannequin and lays the garment flat. Aspect ratio, background colour and an optional brand label are request parameters.
Pricing is per image rather than per subscription tier: 4 credits at 2K, 5 credits at 4K. Batch generation runs 1 to 10 garments simultaneously depending on plan — 1 on Free and Hobby, 2 on Seller, 5 on Brand, 10 on Studio. You can try it at the free ghost mannequin generator.
Photoroom
Photoroom ships a dedicated Ghost Mannequin tool, and its help centre is unusually specific about where it lives: it is available "As a standalone tool (from AI tools), From AI tools in Batch, From AI tools in Photoroom for Shopify" (help centre). That third one matters if your catalogue already lives in Shopify — the source image can be picked straight from the product editor.
Inputs are broad: a flat lay, a hanging garment, a mannequin shot, or a model photo. Settings are Quality, Aspect ratio, Brand style and a free-text prompt, and you can generate variations from a result.
The same page states plainly that it "Requires paid subscription" and "Requires AI credits" — there is no free path to this feature. Plans are structured by credits and exports: Pro at 4,500 credits and 1,000 exports a month, Max at 14,000 and 3,000, Ultra at 75,000 and 10,000, with Enterprise custom (pricing). 4K output sits on Ultra and above. Note that Photoroom renders prices in the visitor's local currency, so check the figure in your own region.
Pixelcut
Pixelcut's ghost mannequin is a format inside Product Studio rather than a separate tool. You upload a folded, hanging or flat garment photo — or an existing mannequin shot — pick the Ghost Mannequin format, then set placement, aspect ratio, resolution, angle and background, with an optional prompt for the scene (product page). Export runs up to 4K, and a single upload can produce several variations.
Pixelcut states that Product Studio "keeps your fabric texture, stitching, prints, and trims true to the original photo" — that is the vendor's own description of its behaviour, not a measured result.
One distinction worth keeping straight: Pixelcut does have bulk tooling, but its own page scopes it to "background removal, resizing, and upscaling" across folders. That is not batch ghost mannequin generation, and it should not be read as such.
Pricing is a subscription with monthly AI credits, in Pro and Business tiers with a lower rate on yearly billing and a larger credit allocation on Business; the current figures are on the vendor's pricing page, which changes.
Snappyit
Snappyit runs a dedicated AI Ghost Mannequin Generator that accepts flat lay, hanging shots or on-mannequin images (product page). It is the most straightforward of the six: upload, generate, download.
Plans state their credit allowance up front — 120 credits on Basic, 360 on Standard, 800 on Pro and 1,150 on Custom (pricing). Prices depend on the billing period you select and on whatever promotion is running; at the time of checking, yearly billing showed a discount against the monthly rate, so read the figure with the toggle set the way you would actually buy.
New accounts get free credits, though the pricing page does not publish the number.
Fotor
Fotor's ghost mannequin tool is free to start and its documented strength is angles: it generates front, back and side views, and the product page describes keeping "lighting, texture, and clothing shapes match perfectly across all angles" (product page). That consistency claim is Fotor's own; we did not measure it.
The same page publishes several performance figures — five-second processing, an 88% cost reduction, a 97% satisfaction rate. All of those are vendor-stated and carry no published methodology, so treat them as marketing rather than benchmarks.
Fotor does not publish a stable subscription price on the tool page itself, so no figure is quoted here.
PixFocal
PixFocal positions ghost mannequin as one of four outputs rather than the whole product — one garment photo in, ghost mannequin, on-model, flat-lay and hanger shots out — and advertises a turnaround of minutes on its homepage. That speed figure is the vendor's own claim, not a measurement.
It is free to try without a card, and the site offers a money-back guarantee if you do not get at least one publishable shot. If your listing needs more than the invisible-mannequin view — say a hanger shot for the gallery and an on-model image for the ad — getting all of them from one upload is the argument for it.
How we researched these tools
We reviewed each vendor's official product, help, API, and pricing pages on August 21, 2026. This is a feature and pricing comparison, not a controlled image-quality test. We did not run identical garments through every platform, so we do not score realism, fidelity, or generation speed. Performance figures published by vendors are identified as vendor claims. Prices may vary by region, promotion, and billing cycle.
Photta makes this tool, and that is a conflict of interest worth stating plainly. The way we have tried to handle it is to publish the same fields for every tool, cite each one, and leave cells empty where a vendor does not publish something — including our own.
What to check before you commit
Whether your source photos match the input. Every tool here takes a flat lay; not all of them document taking a mannequin shot, a hanging garment or a model photo. If your existing catalogue is shot one particular way, that narrows the list before anything else does.
Where the feature sits in your workflow. A tool that only works one image at a time is fine for a ten-piece drop and painful for two hundred SKUs. Batch ghost mannequin generation is documented by Photta and Photoroom; the others either scope bulk tooling to other operations or do not publish it.
How output is charged. Per-image credits and monthly credit allowances behave very differently at volume. Work out your monthly image count first, then read the pricing page with that number in mind.
What happens to prints and trims. Several vendors describe preserving texture and logo placement. None of those descriptions is a measurement, including ours. Run your hardest garment — a busy print, a dark knit, a branded collar — through the free tier before you commit to a plan.
Frequently asked questions
Do these tools work for every kind of clothing?
They are documented for structured garments — shirts, jackets, dresses, hoodies, trousers. Vendors generally do not publish results for very sheer fabrics, heavy drape or accessories, so those are worth testing yourself rather than assuming.
Can I use ghost mannequin images on Amazon and Etsy listings?
Marketplace image rules govern things like background, framing and how accurately the image represents the product, and they change. Check each marketplace's current requirements directly rather than relying on any tool's marketing.
Will the AI change my product's design?
Every tool here reconstructs parts of the garment that the original photo does not show — the inner collar, the back neckline. That is the point of the effect, and it is also where errors appear. Compare the output against the real product before publishing, especially on prints and branded details.
Is a second photo worth shooting?
If your workflow can capture it, yes, at least on Photta, where the API documents better interior reconstruction when a back image accompanies the front. No other vendor here documents a second-angle input.
