How Revolve's virtual try-on works
Revolve partnered with Zelig to launch 'Build a Look' in October 2025, an AI-image feature that lets shoppers mix and match Revolve pieces on style avatars. Shoppers pick a garment, select an avatar body type, and see the AI-rendered outfit combination, making it easier to visualize a full look before adding multiple items to the cart.
The feature is part of Revolve's broader push to reduce decision friction for its fashion-forward, influencer-driven customer base. By letting shoppers style complete outfits virtually, it also nudges multi-item purchases, which lifts average order value.

The catch: avatars are not the shopper
Avatar-based try-on shows how a garment looks on a curated model silhouette, not on the individual shopper's own photo. The styling benefit is real, but a shopper still needs to imagine how the piece will translate to their own body.
Own-photo try-on closes that remaining gap. When the shopper sees a dress or jacket on their actual uploaded image, the conversion confidence is higher because there is no imagination step left.
How to add the same try-on to your store
A hosted apparel try-on widget puts the on-body preview moment directly on your product pages, using the shopper's own uploaded photo, not a pre-selected avatar. Photta installs as a single script tag:
The shopper taps 'Try it on', uploads a photo, and sees the garment on themselves in the browser. It covers apparel and jewelry, runs in 29 languages, deletes the shopper's photo after processing, and you manage everything from a branded dashboard.

Why it pays off for an apparel store
Fashion DTC brands like Revolve win on discovery and style, but lose margin on returns. When shoppers can see a garment on their own body before they buy, return rates fall and conversion rises, both of which directly improve net revenue.
Shoppers who use try-on convert at materially higher rates and return less across ecommerce. For a style-led store competing on aspiration, giving shoppers a personalized, photo-realistic preview is a differentiation that product photography alone cannot deliver.

Set it up in minutes
